The singer Oxlade explains his belief that love is overvalued

He expresses his conviction that genuine love is not attainable everywhere. Nigerian musician Oxlade has shared his own story of falling in love and experiencing heartbreak, providing context for the well-known song “I feel like love is overrated.” When the singer appeared on The 90’s Baby Show, he talked about his relationship with an ex-girlfriend.

“Who broke your heart?” the host enquired. How did she harm you? Evidently reluctant to mention his former partner, Oxlade only answered, “A thing.” It seems to me that you don’t do evil for evil, and it’s hurting her reputation. My community will expose her; I cannot. I promise you that mad stalkers exist and they will locate you. You can rely on the internet,”

He went on, “I assure you, it’s the internet,” giving an explanation for his decision not to reveal his ex-girlfriend’s identify. In response to a question on what happened between the ex-couples and his belief that love was overrated, singer Oxlade emphasized that society was partly to blame for their breakup.

He described an event, saying, “What the community did to us is what hurt us more than what she did to me.” I didn’t even have bread back then, so it was all genuine affection. Only pure love and encouraging words. “Girl, what are you doing with Oxlade?” her friends asked her once, while I was staying at her hostel.

Oxlade said that incident broke him and altered the way he thought about relationships and love. “I was at the door, and when I walked in, their attitude changed,” he said. After that, I noticed a shift in her behavior patterns and eventually spotted her with the man she had claimed not to be seeing.”

“This was during my hustle era, quite early in my life. That’s when I realized that although love is beautiful, it’s not a universal feeling. God wants you to see love before you can find it; you can’t discover true love everywhere and you have to be lucky,” he said.
