A defamation and cybercrime suit brought against human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has been dismissed by the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital. The IGP had initiated the lawsuit last year, alleging that Farotimi’s comments in his book, “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,” defamed legal luminary Aare Afe Babalola SAN. The suit centered around Farotimi’s critique of the Nigerian legal system and its interaction with powerful figures.
