The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted Hensard University in Bayelsa State approval to offer 16 undergraduate courses.
As the first private tertiary institution in the oil-rich Bayelsa State, Hensard University aims to achieve excellence in academics, research, and entrepreneurship.
The university is committed to character formation, discipline, and service, adhering to global best practices across various disciplines.
Some of the courses approved include Medicine and Surgery, Nursing Science, Mechanical Engineering , Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Anatomy, Marine Engineering and Physiology, and so forth.
A letter signed by Abubakar Girei, acting director of Academic Planning, NUC, confirmed the approvals.
Prior to the approval, the regulatory agency had in a letter dated January 22, 2025, approved some other programmes including Pharmacy, Law, Biology Education, Mathematics Education, Chemistry Education, among others.
