40 Killed As Bandits Sack Plateau Community
A tragic incident unfolded in Zurak village, located in the Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area in Plateau State.
Reports indicate that a group of bandits launched an attack, resulting in the loss of over 40 lives, including vigilantes.
The distressing event took place at approximately 5:00 pm on Monday, catching the unsuspecting residents off guard as they went about their daily routines.
The residents of the community revealed that the lack of a reliable communication network hindered their immediate reporting of the incident.
Sahpi’i Sambo, a prominent youth leader in the area, corroborated the incident, confirming that the bandits arrived on motorcycles armed with sophisticated weapons and unleashed a hail of gunfire.
“More than 40 people were killed while many injured. Residents of the village have fled to neighbouring communities for cover. As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly,” Sambo said.
However, security authorities have yet to comment on the incident.
