Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed no fewer than one hundred and six (106) terrorists in operations carried out in the past week.

According to the military, ten vehicles and twenty-three motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were recovered during the operations.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, released a statement on Friday revealing details of the operations.

According to Buba, a total of 103 terrorists were apprehended during the operations. Additionally, 22 individuals involved in oil theft were arrested, and 96 kidnapping victims were successfully

rescued.

The operations also resulted in the recovery of 171 assorted weapons and 2,452 rounds of ammunition by the troops.

The breakdown revealed the recoveries to include 47 AK-47 rifles, one PKT gun, 18 pump-action rifles, 17 locally fabricated guns, 14 Dane guns, 12 locally fabricated pistols, one fabricated

revolver, one hand grenade, 81mm mortar bomb, one mortar tube and four bandoliers

Other items recovered are 995 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 468 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 317 live cartridges, 125 rounds of 9mm ammo, 313 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 13 rounds of 7.62

x 51mm, 19 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, 167 empty shells of 7.62mm special ammo, 45 empty shells of 7.62mm NATO and 72 empty cases of cartridges.

“They also include 14 magazines, 10 vehicles, 23 motorcycles, 19 mobile phones, one bicycle, four Baofeng radios, and the sum of N112,920, amongst other items,” Buba noted in the statement.

In the Eastern region, Buba reported that the forces of Operation Hadin Kai eliminated 38 Boko Haram-ISWAP terrorists, rescued 16 abducted hostages, and seized various weapons and

ammunition. Additionally, a total of 46 terrorists, including eight men, 14 women, and 24 children, surrendered to the troops between March 13 and 19 in the operational area.

In the Central region, Buba mentioned that the troops from Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke eradicated seven violent extremists, captured 27 individuals, rescued eight hostages, and

discovered a significant arsenal of weapons.

In the Western region, he stated that the forces of Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 31 terrorists, detained 13 others, saved 56 kidnapped hostages, and recovered a substantial amount of arms

and ammunition.

Furthermore, Buba highlighted that the troops from Operation Whirl Punch arrested nine violent extremists and rescued 19 kidnapped victims during the week.

Buba also reported that the troops of Operation Delta Safe in the Niger Delta region located and eliminated 40 illegal refining sites along with 51 dugout pits, 17 boats, 21 cooking ovens, three

pumping machines, 15 storage tanks, and four vehicles.

Additionally, they seized 772,350 litres of stolen crude oil, 80,530 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 1,500 litres of DPK during the week.

In the southeast, Buba mentioned that the troops of Operation UDO KA discovered and dismantled an IED factory in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra. Furthermore, he stated that the

troops successfully rescued five kidnapped victims in Enugu North and recovered a single vehicle.
