Mufasa, a forerunner to The Lion King that focuses on Mufasa’s ascent to royalty, starring Nigerian actors Theo Somolu and Folake Olowofoyeku, will released by Disney in 2019.

Theo Somolu and Folake Olowofoyeku, two Nigerian actors, have landed parts in Mufasa, Disney’s prequel to the beloved Lion King. The film explores Simba’s father’s background tale and is slated to open in theaters on December 20, 2024.

For the portrayal of Nigeria in Hollywood, the hiring of Somolu and Olowofoyeku represents a critical turning point. Nothing about their character has been made public yet.

Olowofoyeku contributes a plethora of expertise to the undertaking. Her portrayal in the well-known sitcom Bob Hearts is among the films and television shows that have captured the attention of viewers.

Death Race 2050 (2017), Female Fight Club (2016), Bob Hearts Abishola (2019), and the epic adventure 10,000 A.D.: The Legend of the Black Pearl (2008) are worth watching.

Additionally, Somolu shares his expertise from other endeavors, including Baggio: The Divine Ponytail (2021) and the children’s television series Mighty Express (2020).

Barry Jenkins is the filmmaker of If Beale Street Could Talk and Moonlight.

Watchers will be able to go back in time through Mufasa to a time before Simba’s issues with his envious uncle Scar. The prequel will follow Mufasa’s journey from a defenseless cub to a valiant king by providing a thorough narrative of his early years.

The complex nature of their connection as well as the events that send Taka down a dark path will be explored in the film.

Disney claims that in Mufasa: The Lion King, Rafiki helps baby lion cub Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, learn about the legend of Mufasa, and Timon and Pumbaa provide their trademark antics. The plot, which is told in flashbacks, starts with Mufasa as an abandoned cub who is lost and alone until he encounters Taka, a kind lion who is descended from a royal family. A remarkable gang of misfits out on a far-reaching adventure to discover their destiny are brought together by happenstance and find that their connections will be put to the test as they cooperate to avoid a dangerous and deadly enemy.

Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter, Kelvin Harrison Jr., John Kani, Billy Eichner, Aaron Pierre, and Seth Rogen are among the actors who star in the movie.
