Mob Beat FRSC officials For Allegedly Causing Accident In Oyo
An enraged crowd mercilessly assaulted several officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) after they were accused of causing an accident in the Oke Bola area of Ibadan.
Although the details of the incident have not been verified at the time of reporting, it is alleged that the officials were involved in a hit-and-run.
A video that quickly went viral captured the moment when the mob surrounded one of the FRSC vans near Oke Bola Market. The driver of the van, as recounted by a local resident, swiftly exited the vehicle and fled for his life.
While the mob relentlessly pursued the driver, another FRSC officer, who purportedly led the team, discreetly crossed to the opposite side of the road, unaware that the mob’s attention had shifted to him after failing to apprehend the driver.
A bystander managed to apprehend the officer and began assaulting him, prompting others to join in. Upon hearing about the commotion, some police officers who typically regulate traffic at the market junction hastily retreated from the scene.
Mr. Akanbi, who claimed to have been present at a nearby filling station purchasing fuel, stated that the public directed their fury towards the FRSC officials.
