A petrol station named Pinnacle Oil, owned by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, has been affected by fire.
Speculations are that the petrol station was set on fire by some unidentified arsonists.
The incident took place in the early hours of Friday. Eyewitnesses suggest that the perpetrators arrived in a Toyota Corolla to execute the act.
It has been reported that the flames damaged at least four vehicles in the surrounding area.
At the time of this report, access to the Agbani Road leading to the fuel station has been restricted by fire service personnel and security forces.
Thankfully, the rapid response from both federal and state fire services effectively contained the fire, ensuring that there were no casualties.
Confirming the incident, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, said operatives were at the scene to maintain order.
Initial investigations indicate that a fuel leak from one of the vehicles might have ignited the fire.
In light of this, Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu has mandated a comprehensive investigation.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State CID will lead this inquiry.
The proactive measures taken by the Commissioner of Police guarantee a detailed examination of the incident’s origins and the implementation of strategies to avert similar events in the future.
