Lagos Govt Shuts RCCG, Celestial Church, Others Over Noise Pollution

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government of Lagos State has closed down the Celestial Church of God, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), along with seven businesses and hotels located in Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland regions of the state.

The head of the Environment and Water Resources Department, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed this in a statement released via his social media page on Wednesday.

According to the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), the action is being taken to address issues related to noise and other environmental infractions within the state.

It is worth noting that the list of businesses that have been shut down includes Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, a printing facility, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites.

He mentioned that these businesses were found to have repeatedly broken environmental rules despite receiving multiple warnings from LASEPA.

In response to this news, Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, highlighted the agency’s strict policy against any violations of environmental regulations.

“We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations,” he said

The development comes barely a week after LASEPA sealed Donalds, a restaurant in the Lekki area owned by popular socialist, Cubana Chiefpriest.
