The United Arab Emirates (UAE) flag carrier, Emirates Airline, returned to Lagos, Nigeria, on Tuesday, landing at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA).
This development comes two years following the suspension of operations by the airline due to a series of unresolved issues, including the matter of trapped funds belonging to the airline.
Reports revealed that the flight, designated as EK 783, arrived at the old terminal of the MMIA at precisely 3:32 pm, only to find several seats vacant.
Although the exact number of passengers on board could not be immediately determined, several passengers who our correspondent interviewed mentioned the presence of numerous empty seats.
Our correspondent, stationed at the MMIA, reported that while the departing passengers were processed at the newly constructed terminal, the returning passengers made their way through the old terminal.
The Boeing 777-300ER, the aircraft in question, can accommodate a maximum of 392 passengers.
“The flight was not full at all but as usual the services were very good. And I think this is understandable being the first flight after many years,” Daily Trust quoted one the passengers saying.
