An officer of the Nigerian Police Force, Inspector Mohammed Bulama, has been apprehended following the murder of a 39-year-old man, Abdulmalik Dauda, in Damaturu, the state’s capital.
Reports are that Bulama, assigned to the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 in Yobe State, was engaged in a heated dispute with his victim regarding unpaid transactions at the Zango area in Damaturu.
It was gathered that the police officer stabbed his victim in the chest.
The crime took place on September 29, 2024, as confirmed by a police spokesperson in the state, Dungus Abdulkarim, who announced the arrest of the suspect while stating that the investigation into the murder case had begun.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has ordered the immediate investigation into the homicide incident involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to Police Mobile Force PMF 41 Division Damaturu,” he said.
The police spokesperson clarified that Bulama has been detained by the police while investigations into his misconduct are underway.
CP Garba Ahmed, who criticized Bulama’s behaviour, offered his sympathies to Dauda’s relatives and promised the community that fairness would be served.
