The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has appointed Chief Ezekiel Adaji, a former member of the House of Representatives for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, as its new state chairman.
Adaji emerged for the position at the party congress held on Thursday, October 3.
Alhaji Shaba Ibrahim, the Benue Congress Electoral Committee chairman, announced the election result, stating that Chief Adaji received 2,482 votes, securing his position at the helm of a newly-elected 27-member State Executive Committee (SEC).
Among those elected alongside Adaji are Comrade Dan Nyikwagh as State Secretary, Tim Nyor as Public Secretary, Ibya Terkimbi as Youth Leader, and Mrs. Alice Albert as Women Leader, among others.
The newly appointed officials were promptly sworn in by Barrister Friday Ejembi, the legal officer of the Caretaker Committee.
In his acceptance address, Chief Adaji expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the significant support he received and committed to providing the necessary leadership for Benue State, aiming for the party’s return to power.
He also pledged to take immediate steps, including the formation of a reconciliation committee to address any internal grievances within the party.
Earlier, Alhaji Shaba Ibrahim highlighted that out of 2,910 registered delegates, 2,900 were accredited to participate in the election.
