‘I Am Very Disappointed In Wike’ – Ex-Commissioner Slams FCT Minister Over Rivers Crisis

A former Commissioner for Information in Rivers State, Austin Tam-George, has faulted the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the lingering political crisis in Rivers.

Tam-George, who served as commissioner under Wike during his tenure as Rivers State Governor, spoke on Monday during a Channels Television programme themed ‘The Morning Brief.’

Tam-George charged his former principal with being the architect of the ongoing political turmoil in the state involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Wike.

He expressed his disappointment regarding Wike’s conduct in all the events.

Tam-George said: “I’m very disappointed in what the minister is doing. He’s the one orchestrating this. He’s the one who has set forth a process to destabilise the state.

“I was commissioner for information in the previous administration and so I’m highly disappointed in the minister. What I expected him to do was to, you know, focus on his mandate.

He urged the FCT Minister to focus on his role in the nation’s capital city and allow Rivers’s incumbent Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to work.

“He’s got a clear administrative mandate in the FCT. The FCT has one of the worst public schools in Nigeria.

“He has a full plate there in order to deliver service. But he’s not doing that. Instead, he’s focusing on how to destabilise River State, and obviously, Rivers people are going to resist him every time,” the former commissioner added.
