National Grid Recovery Nears Completion – TCN Gives Update

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported that efforts to restore the national grid are nearing completion after a partial disturbance that took place on Monday.

This incident was recorded around 6:48 p.m., leading to prompt action for recovery.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, indicated that the recovery process was initiated without delay, with Azura Power Station playing a crucial role in providing the necessary black-start.

By 10:24 a.m. on Tuesday, she noted that the recovery of the grid had progressed significantly despite facing a brief challenge that resulted in a minor setback.

“Notwithstanding the setback, TCN continued its recovery efforts, achieving significant progress. Bulk power availability has been restored to approximately 90 per cent of its substations nationwide, with supply reinstated to the Abuja axis and other major distribution load centres.

“The partial disturbance did not affect the Ibom Gas generating station, which continued to supply power to areas in the South Southern part of the country, including Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and Itu 132 kilovolt transmission substations,” Mbah noted in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
