Nigerian musicians are represented by Burna Boy at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Burna Boy has become one of Africa’s most successful singers since shooting to international fame with his smash hit song “YE.” His music has packed historic venues and garnered admiration for itself.

Another significant achievement for the musician from Port Harcourt is that he now holds the record for the most entries from any Nigerian artist on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.

The Grammy nominee’s most recent accomplishment comes from his collaboration with Little Simz on Coldplay’s “We Pray,” which debuted at No. 87 on the chart week of October 19, 2024.

With his smash track “Last Last,” which peaked at No. 44 and remained on the list for 19 weeks, Damini Ogulu MFR, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, currently has six entries on the Billboard chart.

Tems, the Grammy winner, is next to him on the list with five entries. Thanks to her feature on Future’s “Wait For U,” Tems made history by being the first Nigerian artist to debut at the top of the charts.

With four entries, including a No. 1 entry thanks to Drake’s “One Dance,” Wizkid is the third-ranked Nigerian musician on the list. This achievement made him the first Afrobeats artist to top the Billboard Hot 100.

On the chart, Rema, CKay, Fireboy, Davido, and Lojay have each recorded one item.

Rema claims that “Calm Down,” featuring Selena Gomez, is the highest charting Afrobeats single ever—it peaked at number three. ‘Love Nwantiti’ by CKay had a respectable stay on the chart, reaching its highest position at number 26. Ed Sheeran’s remix of Fireboy’s “Peru” peaked at number 54. Davido and Lojay made their chart debuts thanks to Chris Brown’s “Sensational,” which peaked at number 94.
