Actress Halima Abubakar is suspended by AGN indefinitely for suspected slander

Actress Halima Abubakar of Nollywood has been suspended by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) after a two-year investigation revealed her involvement in the dissemination of false material and statements regarding her colleagues in the business.

The well-known actress is purportedly responsible for the dissemination of untrue and deceptive information about her coworkers and other well-known people.

The AGN made the decision in an official statement posted on the Guild’s Instagram page on Friday, October 18, 2024. The investigation, which lasted two years in secret, revealed that Halima Abubakar was the mastermind behind the leaks of untidy stories about infidelity and extramarital affairs involving actors in the business.

The statement said, “Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the slanderous information following the thorough investigative report by the special Secret Investigation Panel set up to conduct an internal underground secret investigation.”

The actress is currently on indefinite leave of absence. She is prohibited from taking part in any AGN events or filming during the suspension term. Additionally, the Guild has stated that the National Disciplinary Committee will hear from her in order to assess the entire extent of her penalty.

Halima Abubakar has also been cautioned by the AGN not to break the suspension guidelines as doing so may lead to additional disciplinary proceedings.

The statement further stated that “the National Disciplinary Committee will determine her full punishment.”
