Prominent Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar, has issued an apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman, founder and Senior Pastor of the Omega Fire Ministries, for defaming him.
In a recent letter addressed to the revered cleric, Abubakar acknowledged that she disseminated false information about Suleman, which resulted in emotional distress for him through social media platforms.
The conflict between Halima Abubakar and Apostle Suleman began in 2022 when the actress fell ill following a dispute with the clergyman.
During her illness, Abubakar’s family publicly urged the clergyman to refrain from contacting her.
However, there were claims that the actress was suffering from an autoimmune disorder, which she refuted by releasing her medical documentation.
In her correspondence to Apostle Suleman, Halima Abubakar formally requested his forgiveness.
She conveyed her sincere remorse for damaging his reputation and expressed hope that her letter might help to mitigate the harm caused.
“I admit that I made false allegations against you and also regret my action and the damage I caused to you, your wife, Dr Lizzy Suleman, your family and the leaders of the Omega Fire Ministry.
“With this letter, I humbly ask for forgiveness, recognising that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain and distress I caused and I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me as I was not thinking right then.
“I’m truly sorry for all the hurts and distress I caused you, your family and ministry,” Halima pleaded.
