Gunmen believed to be bandits have carried out an assault on Kakin Dawa village, located in the Gidan Goga district of the Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
It was gathered that the assailants kidnapped more than 50 people, including women and children.
A resident of the community told journalists that the attackers invaded the village around 1:30 am on Sunday, armed with advanced weaponry, as they moved systematically from one house to another.
“Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village; later we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” he told Daily Post.
He further emphasized that the individuals who were abducted comprised both young girls and married women.
He urged both the federal and Zamfara State governments to increase the deployment of military and security forces to the area in order to confront the terrorists.
Nevertheless, attempts to obtain a response from the spokesperson of the State police command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
