2024 MOBO Awards: Asake defeats Davido and Tyla to win Best African Act. [Complete list]
At the 2024 MOBO awards, Nigerian music sensation Asake took home the Best African Artist trophy.
The crooner of “Lonely at the Top” defeated superstars like Adekunle Gold, Davido, Rema, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Rema to win the award.
Uncle Waffles, an artist from Swatini, Libianca, a Cameroonian-American, and Tyla, a South African, were also included in the category.
Afro-gospel singer Limoblaze won best gospel artist at the 2024 MOBO Awards, so Asake wasn’t the only Nigerian to take home a trophy.
Asake and Limoblaze have now won MOBO Awards alongside Nigerians 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy.
Rapper Tunde, a British Nigerian, took up the Best New Artist honor.
Topping the winners’ ranking with two trophies, Best Male Act and Song of the Year, was British rapper Central Cee.
The winners’ chart was topped by British-Nigerian rapper Central Cee, who won two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for his collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Dave on “Sprinter.”
Soul II Soul received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Drake and 21 Savage shared the Best International Act title.
