Nigerian comedian and actor AY Makun wrote a long essay explaining the workings of social media.
Makun expressed his thoughts on the changing social media landscape on Monday, February 11, 2023, using his Instagram account. He dubbed it the “new King Kong.”
Makun said, “Feelings are now more important than objective facts on social media, which is the new King Kong.” Then he went on, “A foolish person gets praised if they come out and say something that moves an audience.” However, a smart person faces persecution if they speak anything that goes against the wishes of the masses.”
Makun made the point that posting dumb things on social media doesn’t require official training.
He said, “You don’t need any training to know how to be a fool on social media. All you need is to be foolish from birth and have the freedom to show how foolish you are. It’s a place that accepts your ignorance with confidence. It is the only setting in which you can openly state how nothing existed for you before you meddled.”
The actor wrapped up by pointing out how people on social media often ignore each other’s mental and physical well-being.
“Having said that, more idiots will keep assessing their performances in the arena by fabricating drama and unfavorable viral content for their various viewers’ amusement. However, it is also crucial for dumb people to enjoy the results of their activities as long as they don’t care about the stress, suffering, anxiety, loneliness, or depression they cause you.
