FAVE is a significant force in Nigerian music and beyond thanks to her captivating words, deep voice, and unique rhythmic style.
FAVE’s 2020 viral hit song N.B.U. was the first to draw public attention. Since then, she has put out a number of hit songs and critically lauded albums, such as her first EP, Riddim 5, and her much awaited release, Dutty Love, which is scheduled for November 7.
Her popularity has been cemented by her partnerships with some of Nigeria’s most well-known musicians, including Olamide, Simi, Phyno, and Davido. Her appearance on Davido’s Kante from the groundbreaking Timeless album was one of the Top 10 songs in Nigeria’s 2023 Spotify Top 10 playlists.
“Being a woman in the music industry can be challenging, but it has strengthened my resolve,” FAVE wrote. Because it focuses on empowering women and making sure our views are heard, the EQUAL program is unique. Being a member of something that strives for industry balance is powerful.
FAVE is not only a rising artist but also a potent cultural ambassador, shattering stereotypes and establishing new benchmarks for African music with its expanding global fan base and sound that cuts across boundaries.
The singer gave some details about her musical path in a brief chat.
What is one unexpected fact about you that your followers might not be aware of?
I adore crime documentaries and movies.
When did you realize you were meant to be a musician, and why are you pursuing this career path?
I knew from a young age that I was destined to become a musician. I wrote my own tunes and sang in the choir. Right away, I informed my pals that I love music and would like to pursue it for the rest of my life. I followed music because it made me feel alive. It would be easy for me to do. So, in the end, I realized it was a talent I could cultivate, not just a pastime.
Which musicians or songs from Africa did you hear as a child?
Growing up, I listened to artists like PSQUARE, ASA, SASHA P, and EVA ALORDIAH.
How would you characterize the sound, tone, and style of your music to someone who hasn’t heard it?
There is a lot of spirit and emotion in my music. My style can be described as a spectrum.
What guidance would you give someone who is afraid to pursue their dreams?
Since life is too short, I firmly believe that everyone should pursue their ambitions. And you’ll have a ton of regrets if you don’t pursue your aspirations. Additionally, you should pursue your dreams because they are meant to be, and if you don’t, you may not find your life’s purpose. Thus, simply get up and take action.
