At Least Six Killed As Rival Cult Clash In Osun
No fewer than six individuals have reportedly lost their lives as rival cult groups engage in acts of violence against each other in the towns of Ilesa and Osu in Osun State.
Reports revealed that the incidents occurred at various locations in the two towns between last Tuesday and Wednesday evening.
According to Channels Television, an anonymous source residing in Ilesa confirmed that three individuals were killed at three different locations within the town by armed men suspected to be members of the Aye cult group.
In response, alleged members of the Eye Confraternity reportedly organized themselves and launched an attack on a farm in Osu, resulting in the deaths of three individuals within the community.
Reacting, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, SP ‘Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the killings related to the cult activities.
However, for security reasons and to prevent further escalation of the crisis, Opalola did not disclose the exact number of casualties.
She further mentioned that armed police teams have been deployed to the affected areas to restore peace and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
