The embattled former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, faced a setback on Tuesday when his request for bail was denied by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.
Justice Maryann dismissed Bello’s bail application, stating that it was submitted before he was taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The application was lodged on November 22, while Bello was detained by the EFCC on November 26 and subsequently arraigned on November 27.
On that date, he appeared before a court led by Justice Anenih.
Bello was charged alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu in a 16-count indictment brought against them by the EFCC on behalf of the Federal Government.
The charges, filed under case number FCT/HC/CR/778/24, include allegations of criminal breach of trust involving the amount of N110,446,470,089, among other offenses.
