The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has explained why it arrested controversial crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a. Bobrisky.
Earlier on Monday, controversial social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), revealed NIS officials arrested Bobrisky while he was attempting to flee Nigeria.
According to VDM, Bobrisky was arrested detained at the Seme border as he sought to escape to the Benin Republic.
In the post via his Instagram account, VDM stated that Bobrisky’s arrest was connected to his efforts to avoid an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives.
Confirming the development in a statement issued later on Monday evening, the NIS said it arrested the crossdresser at the Seme Border while trying to flee the country.
Service Public Relations Officer SPRO, DCI Kenneth Udo, said the cross-dresser is a “person of interest.”
He said, “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service NIS intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to exit the country.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders.”
