Davido’s eagerly anticipated song “Flex My Soul” will make its debut
According to Davido, his fifth album is ready. For more than ten years, Afrobeats superstar Davido has led the charge in promoting African music abroad. In a recent interview with Billboard, the
Grammy contender reflects on his path.
In the “Davido Announces All to His World of Music Honda Stage x Billboard” behind-the-scenes film that Billboard released, Davido discussed his musical journey and how Afrobeats has
become a global sensation.
The hitmaker claims that his early interest in music stemmed from the get-togethers his mother used to throw.
” My mother was always hosting a lot of gatherings when I was young so from there, it can of like form into me loving music,” said Davido.
Davido began his professional life as a recording artist before turning to music. Even though he had no intention to pursue a career as a musician, his debut track would make him a household
name in the music industry.
“Now, I never imagined that I would one day become an internationally acclaimed artist. When I moved back to Nigeria, I had recently chosen to pursue it full-time when one of
my relatives chose to make available one of my songs under my name.”
I love teaming up, specifically like introducing them to my world,” Davido remarked, alluding to his debut track, “Back When,” which he made along with Naeto C.
Davido discusses his song “Flex My Soul,” which he has teased earlier, in the interview as well. In the song, he seemed to be anticipating performing on the Billboard Honda Stage, and he alluded
to a female guest appearance.
In 2023, Davido gave a sneak peek at “Flex My Soul” prior to the release of his incredible fourth album, “Timeless.”
Davido also discussed the globalization of African beats, pointing out that although the genre has always existed, its availability of it has changed.
