Thirteen educational institutions, along with 14 supervisors, have been placed on a blacklist by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) due to alleged examination misconduct in Kogi State.
The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, made this announcement during a meeting in Lokoja with several principals and supervisors implicated by WAEC for purported examination irregularities.
The Commissioner stated, “Any principal, teacher, or supervisor who facilitates or supports examination malpractices will be subject to prosecution in accordance with the Kogi State Education Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2020.”
Jones underscored that examination malpractices constitute a criminal offense and will be addressed in accordance with legal provisions.
Additionally, the Commissioner revealed that a committee, led by the Permanent Secretary, has been established to investigate the individuals named by WAEC, and those found culpable will face legal action.
“Kogi State Government has invested so much in education and will no longer tolerate the attitude of some bad eggs drawing back the gains already made in the education sector.
“Whoever is promoting examination malpractices is an enemy of Kogi State and must be kicked out of the system,” he added.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Jibrin Seidu Alhaji, admonished principals and the supervisors to desist from actions capable of bringing down the name of Kogi State to the mud.
