How I battled to kick a drug addiction and lost money – Timaya
Inetimi Alfred Timaya Odon, a.k.a. Timaya, is a Nigerian singer who has been candid about his battle with drug addiction.
The ‘Dem Mama‘ singer said that some individuals who were staying at his house introduced him to narcotics.
Timaya claimed in a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos that he lost a lot of money and developed heroin addiction.
“I am not a saint,” he said. I’ve engaged in drug use. Quitting drugs was a difficult battle; it was awful. I’ve never had it; in 2020, during the COVID-19 lockdown, I first became familiar with narcotics. Everyone was at home, even the young men who used to live in my house and were always so cheerful. Additionally, “Bro, how are you guys happier than me?” I exclaimed. The boss is me. I’m wealthy. What do you folks use? They also informed me that they have “molly.”When I first accepted it, I didn’t know who I was. I ran through all the cash in my pocket because I was so thrilled. I wanted to feel that way all the time. That’s how I shed a lot of pounds. I was simply content; I wasn’t eating. Drugs will cause you to lose your sense of self; this is a delusion. How is it that you just want to be content? First and foremost, you should naturally be pleased. However, natural happiness is replaced when you start to need substance to make you happy.
Thus, you must be purchasing happiness. I lost a lot of money, got out of contracts, and individuals I was doing business with refused to work with me when I claimed I was using Molly. I was taking about three tablets a day, and it felt like medicine. I needed to improve myself. I sang “Cold Outside” to express how I felt. If you see the music video, you will see that I had to convey a message about my experiences.
“I nearly passed away after that incident.”
