Over 6,300 Athletes to Compete in 9th National Youth Games in Delta

The 9th National Youth Games, which will take place in Asaba from August 29 to September 6, will bring together no fewer than 6,382 athletes and officials.

The National Sports Commission organized the Games with the goal of fostering grassroots athletics and identifying the next wave of Nigerian champions. The verified figure was obtained when participants from all 36 of the federation’s states completed the Digital Registration Management (DRM) process.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the NYG has developed into a significant athletic occasion that promotes unity and gives up-and-coming athletes a chance to compete nationally.

With 37 sporting events planned for this year, it promises to be a display of talent, collaboration, and tenacity across a variety of disciplines.

At the 2025 tournament, defending champions Team Delta will try to retain their title, but they will be up against stiff opposition from equally driven teams.

Nine days of exhilarating action are anticipated to generate the nation’s future stars, and the Games continue to be “a celebration of talent, resilience, and national unity,” according to the NSC.
