PDP BoT Asks Party Stakeholders From North-Central To Produce National Chairman

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has requested that party leaders from the North-Central region identify a successor to the former National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The BoT called upon the leaders from the North-Central zone to organize a meeting with stakeholders to propose a candidate to replace the former national chairman.

This request was articulated in a communique delivered by the BoT Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, following an emergency meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

During the meeting, the BoT members comprehensively evaluated the current situation within the party and the nation.

The BoT expressed significant concern regarding the prevailing circumstances in the PDP, particularly concerning the party’s governance.

Furthermore, the BoT insisted that the National Working Committee (NWC) should promptly initiate efforts to restore internal cohesion, unity, stability, and public trust in the party.

As stated in the communique, this restoration should be achieved by adhering to the PDP constitution and ensuring that NWC positions’ zoning aligns with the country’s various geopolitical zones.

“BoT calls on the PDP Governors’ Forum to be more united and work along with other organs of the party to resolve issues in the party expeditiously.

”The BoT is deeply disappointed over the continued shifting by the NWC in convening a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

“This delay not only undermines the trust and confidence of our members but portrays our party as having been hijacked by certain interests.

“The BoT demands that the NWC should show leadership, honour its word and convene the NEC meeting, as scheduled in February 2025.

“This is critical for resolving pressing issues and charting a clear path forward for the party. Any further postponement will exacerbate existing challenges and may spell doom for our party,” the communique read.
