“Phoenix Fury” wins the Best Film prize at the 13th AFRIFF

At the 13th African Film Festival, which took place at the Oriental Hotel on November 10, 2024, the Nollywood movie “Phoenix Fury” won the Best Film prize.

At this year’s African Film Festival, exceptional films and performances were honored.

Phoenix Fury, which was directed by Ifeoma Nkiruka Chukwuogo, demonstrates how a director may skillfully combine parts from the past and present to create a stunning narrative collage.

The movie chronicles Ifeatu’s life from birth to a string of mostly regrettable incidents that drive her to seek retribution against Yali, the man who destroyed it. We are led on a journey with two major individuals for each of the four chapters. The movie swings fluidly between two universes, one based on the present’s complexity and the other on the hardships of the past, thanks to smooth transitions.

Ama K. Abebrese, Ijeoma Grace Agu, Adjetey Anang, Onyinye Odokoro, Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), and Uzoamaka Aniunoh are among the Nollywood celebrities that appear in Phoenix Fury.
