“Piece of My Heart” by Wizkid creates a new record for Spotify streaming

Wizkid‘s first song of 2024, “Piece of My Heart,” featuring American vocalist Brent Faiyaz, was finally released after months of waiting.

After receiving 1.1 million plays since its October 19, 2024 release, the song has already broken the record for most plays on Spotify Nigeria’s first day of availability.

With this noteworthy accomplishment, Wizkid surpasses the mark he previously held with Asake on their joint single, “MMS,” off the latter’s third album, “Lungu Boy.”
Additionally, Wizkid emerges as the performer with the top three songs on Spotify with the most opening-day plays. Nigeria, where Zlatan and “IDK,” their collaboration, are ranked third.

“Piece of My Heart,” which combines the R&B fusion sound with the mid-tempo bounce that Wizkid loves, has become the first single from any African nation to reach one million plays on its first day of release on Spotify.

Wizkid’s most recent song broke a record, which is indicative of his achievement as one of Nigeria’s most commercially successful musicians. It also emphasizes how streaming is becoming more and more popular in Nigeria, particularly with Spotify continuing to grow in popularity.

The Grammy winner’s sixth album, which is set for release on November 22, 2024, is the first release of the ‘Morayo’ era.

Wizkid previews new tracks off his album, which pays homage to his late mother, at the release party for his most recent single in London.
