Popular Nollywood Actress, Ethel Ekpe Is Dead
A renowned Nollywood actress, Ethel Ekpe, has reportedly passed away.
Condolences have been pouring for the family of the deceased, who was well-known for her portrayal of ‘Segi’ in the popular sitcom ‘Basi and Company’ by Ken Saro Wiwa, which aired on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Reports revealed that Ekpe died in Lagos State.
Confirming the sad development in a Facebook post, the Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board, Shaibu Husseini, said the actress succumbed to cancer on Wednesday.
Husseini said: “I have been reliably informed that Ethel Ekpe, (Ethel Aderemi nee Ekpe), the screen beauty that delighted fans with her inimitable interpretation of the role of Segi in the defunct sitcom on Nigerian Television Authority by Ken Saro Wiwa titled ‘Basi and Company’ has passed on.
“The actress, pastor, and star of Amaka Igwe’s ‘Forever’ and most recently ‘Sons of the Caliphate passed away in Lagos.”
Husseini expressed his family’s condolence, stating that they would especially feel the absence of the woman they named their second daughter, Ethel.
