Somkele Idhalama, a Nigerian actress, is cast in an American science fiction television series

Nigerian actress Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama is thrilled to be a member of the Star Trek: Discovery cast, an American science fiction television series.
In ‘Life, Itself’, the tenth episode of the fifth season of the Paramount+ adventure drama series, the actress performs a crucial part as ‘The Progenitor’.

The model and movie star, who was born in Delta State, shared the news with her followers on her Instagram page, full of enthusiasm and a sense of accomplishment.

The biochemistry graduate also talked about her experience trying out for the show. “Can you guess who and where?It’s me, the Progenitor, on the set of @startrekonpplus.

 

Fascinating fact: I spent a solid minute trying out for this show. “I got a cool role at last,” she wrote as the caption for the photo.

As an actress, Somkele gained popularity for her role in the Steve Gukas-directed movie 93 Days as one of the few physicians who contracted Ebola in Nigeria. She received multiple accolades for her outstanding performance of the role, including the Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting, the AMVCA Trailblazer Award, and the ELOY Award for Best Actress of the Year.

The romantic comedy drama films The Wedding Party (2016), which was directed by Kemi Adetiba, and The Wedding Party 2 (2017), which was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, are also notable for her performance as Yemisi Disu.
