President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jami’u Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Affairs.
It is worth noting that Jamiu Abiola is the son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola (MKO), who was the victor of the annulled presidential election on June 12, 1993, and the late Kudirat Abiola, who was tragically assassinated while advocating for the restoration of the mandate from that annulled election.
Abiola’s appointment to serve under Tinubu’s government is scheduled to be effective starting November 14, 2024.
Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.
“This is in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended,” Akume said in the statement, signed on his behalf by Mr Segun Imohiosen, Director, Information and Public Relations in his office.
Jami’u held the position of Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties within the Office of the Vice President prior to his recent appointment.
President Tinubu has assigned the appointee the responsibility of collaborating closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leveraging his extensive experience in this new role.
