JUST IN: Fire Guts Kano Electricity Transmission Station
On Sunday, a fire broke out at the Dan’agundi Transmission Station, a crucial electricity supply hub that serves a significant portion of metropolitan Kano.
Reports revealed that the fire incident resulted in the damage of high-performance capacity transformers.
As per a representative from the Kano Transmission Company (TCN), currently, two transformers have been impacted by the fire, while the remaining two remain unaffected and in proper working condition.
“I am also out of the office but they just reported to me that two transformers have been affected but one is still working. It’s in service. There is a new one which is yet to be commissioned, that one is also not affected,” Daily Trust quoted the official saying.
When asked whether power will still be transmitted via the station, he said, “It will not stop electricity transmission since one is still working. Although now it’s withdrawn electricity could be restored after everything is brought under control.”
However, the Public Relations Officer of Kano Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, was unavailable for comment at the time of reporting as multiple attempts to reach him via phone were unsuccessful.
