President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has designated Mrs Folashade Arinola Adekaiyaoja as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
This appointment, as per presidential approval, aims to enhance the morale of the agency’s operatives in addressing various security challenges.
It has been reported that this approval seeks to amend the service’s organizational structure to improve efficiency, aligning it with the original framework of the secret police.
According to Daily Trust, the DSS is designed to include three Deputy Directors-General within its hierarchy.
Adekaiyaoja, an intelligence officer from Kogi State, has held multiple positions prior to her new role as the second-in-command of the secret police.
The President’s endorsement of this appointment was based on the recommendation of the Director-General, facilitated by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
The President emphasized that this appointment adheres to existing regulations and is unprecedented in the history of the secret service.
In August of the previous year, Tinubu appointed Oluwastosin Ajayi as the Director-General of the DSS, following the tenure of Yusuf Bichi, who served for over four years.
Through the National Security Adviser, the President acknowledged the current security challenges and urged all security agencies to collaborate for the benefit of the Nigerian populace.
