Court remands suspected Lagos assassin, Olori Esho

On Tuesday, an Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, remanded 44-year-old Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Esho, in the Kirikiri Correctional Center on charges of serial murder.

His remand for the first 30 days was issued by Magistrate Mobolaji Tanimola, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution office.

Esho was charged with eleven counts that included conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, illicit firearm possession, membership in an illegal society, possession of a poisoned dagger, threats to life, severe bodily harm, and possession of other weapons.

The Nigeria Police Force filed the charges against the defendant.
The defendant and other individuals still at large are accused of committing the offenses on a number of dates between December 9, 2010, and April 5, 2025, at various locations within Lagos State, including Mushin, Idi-Araba, Surulere, and Fadeyi, according to police prosecuting attorney Nosa Uhumwangho.

Uhumwangho informed the court that the defendant shot and killed Yusuf Bolakale (30) and Yusuf Ramadan (23), at No. 11 Mosalashi Street, Mushin, Lagos, while allegedly in unauthorized possession of an AK-47 firearm.

He was later caught after reportedly running away to the Alagbado region.
The prosecutor further claimed that the defendant(Olori Esho) shot and killed 10-year-old Aminat Lateef on December 9, 2010, at Tiamiyu Street, Fadeyi, when she was out on errands.

Similar to this, on July 31, 2024, the defendant is accused of killing six additional people during a violent altercation between opposing factions of an illegal organization at Idi-Araba. These individuals were identified as Anyila (surname unknown), Ojajo (surname unknown), and four others.
