The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu has not endorsed any contestant seeking the All Progressives Congress governorship ticket for the 2026 election in Osun State.
Oyebamiji, who is running for the APC ticket among roughly 10 other contenders, said this during his consultation tour to the headquarters of Ifedayo and Odo Otin Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
The head of NIWA, who previously held the position of Commissioner for Finance in the administrations of former governors Rauf Aregbesola and Adegboyega Oyetola, stated that all candidates running for governor on the APC ticket are eligible, and that the party’s top priority is to win the state’s election next year.
“Several rumors have been circulating, and I can assure you that the implication is untrue. According to some, we have already assigned roles to those who will collaborate with me in the event that I am elected governor. That isn’t accurate.
During the visit to Okuku, Oyebamiji addressed his party members in Oke Ila and said, “All governorship aspirants under the APC are good ambassadors of our party. We are all qualified to contest for this position, but I want to tell you that none of the aspirants have been anointed by the President or the leaders of the party.” He also praised APC members of Osun state for their warm reception of him and encouraged anyone over the age of 18 to register for a Permanent Voters Card so they can vote in the next governorship election.
