Super Falcons players haven’t received promised $100,000, Ajibade reveals

Rasheedat Ajibade, the captain and forward for the Super Falcons, has voiced her annoyance at the team’s inability to receive the promised bonuses and allowances.

She said this when she appeared on the upcoming episode of “With Chude,” which is hosted by well-known on-air personality Chude Jideonwo.

Ajibade claimed that despite repeated guarantees from the appropriate authorities, the players had not yet received the $100,000 that had been pledged and other benefits.

“Our money hasn’t arrived yet, oo. They haven’t paid, please. We haven’t gotten anything despite all the assurances you exchanged,” she stated.

The players were told that the funds had already been distributed, but Ajibade maintained that they had not received anything.

“People are pleading. It hasn’t arrived yet. As soon as they pay, you will see. “Everything, including our match bonuses, is still a work in progress,” she bemoaned.

The 24-year-old emphasized that the players were suffering as a result of the delay and encouraged the authorities to keep their word.

As a thank you for the Super Falcons’ unprecedented 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations victory in Morocco, President Bola Tinubu announced in July 2024 that each player would receive $100,000 in cash and additional bonuses.

Ajibade added that she spent ten years playing in the Nigeria Women’s Football League for FC Robo Queens without getting paid.

The captain of the Super Falcons called her time playing football in the NWFL “a tough moment.”

Growing up in “a compound of almost 100 people” in Lagos’ Mushin neighborhood, Ajibade continued, she was forced to “wash people’s toilets and bathrooms for money.”

The lady went on to say that she had to “wash people’s toilets and bathrooms for money” while growing up in “a compound of almost 100 people” in Lagos’ Mushin neighborhood.

Ajibade played for the FC Robo Queens in Lagos after rising through the ranks, and at the age of 17, she relocated to Avaldsnes, Illinois, in Norway.

In 2021, she subsequently joined Atletico Madrid Feminino.
