APC wins federal constituency by-election in Jigawa

The Babura/Garki federal constituency bye-election, which took place in Jigawa State on Saturday, August 16, was won by the All Progressives Congress.

The results were announced on Sunday at the INEC collation facility, which is housed within the INEC Babura Office, by Professor Salihu Ibrahim, the Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Ibrahim declared, “The APC candidate, Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki, scored a total of 38,449 votes, making him the winner of this bye-election,” as he presented the final count.

He went on to say that the election was held in an open and nonviolent manner.

The Returning Officer stated that the New Nigeria People’s Party received 2,931 votes, while Isa Auwalu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, came in second with 13,519 votes.

Ibrahim praised security agencies for keeping the peace throughout the day and reassured stakeholders that the voting process properly followed electoral procedures.

“All results were accurately recorded prior to the announcement, and the collation of results from all polling units was seamless,” he said.

The APC’s overwhelming win, according to observers, was a result of the party’s robust grassroots support in the area.

Ibrahim urged all parties to cooperate for the constituency’s growth and stressed the significance of accepting the results in a peaceful manner.

“It is crucial that all participants and supporters respect the outcome and work towards unity going forward,” he said.

Mukhtar Rabi’u Garki’s unambiguous mandate to serve as the Babura/Garki federal constituency’s representative in the National Assembly demonstrates the APC’s tenacity following a fierce local election.

The election, however, marks the end of the process to fill the representative’s seat.

Despite lagging, Isa Auwalu of the PDP received a sizable number of votes, according to information obtained , demonstrating the competitive nature of the poll in the federal seat.
