Gov Sani: Tinubu and Fawehinmi Are My Leaders, Not El-Rufai

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has denied that his predecessor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, is one of his mentees. He emphasizes that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi are his political leaders.

In a recent interview with Channels Television, El-Rufai said the Kaduna governor was one of the numerous individuals he mentored.

“One of my mentees is Uba Sani,” the former governor stated. I created a lot of them. Being able to elevate so many people is my greatest life accomplishment. I’ve inspired and guided a lot of others to achieve success. I’m quite pleased of the fact that some people are even better than myself.

In response, Governor Sani stated in a Sunday interview with TVC that he would not be involved in personal conversations and that his primary focus will continue to be on providing for the needs of the people of Kaduna State.

It is not required for me to reply to that comment since, in my opinion, I do not have the time to do so,” he stated.

Sani instead cited the late Fawehinmi and President Tinubu as the figures who influenced his political career.

“I’ve worked with a lot of folks during my life. I still consider President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be my leader, even though I met him in 1994 in Beko Ransom Kuti’s home. Since I stayed in Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s home throughout the time of struggle, he is a father figure and a leader to me,” the governor said.

The governor emphasized that his administration is still dedicated on governing Kaduna and that he would not be sidetracked by personal comments.

“I won’t say anything if someone is talking about me. What I can say, though, is that Kaduna is my main emphasis. I discuss about Kaduna, not specific people. My attention is focused, and I don’t get sidetracked.

From 2015 to 2019, Sani served as El-Rufai’s political advisor.

El-Rufai backed Sani to succeed Shehu Sani as the senator for the Kaduna Central constituency prior to the 2019 election.
