Essential Prep: What to Know for the Customs Recruitment CBT Exam

Ahead of its computer-based test for the current hiring process, the Nigeria Customs Service has sent out comprehensive instructions to the shortlisted applicants.

A statement that was obtained on Tuesday included this information.

In order to prevent disqualification, the service emphasized that the CBT would be closely watched and encouraged candidates to pay close attention to all instructions.

According to the NCS, here are 10 key things applicants must know

1. Test will be online

According to the website, the CBT will be administered electronically, so candidates can take it from anywhere as long as they have dependable internet connectivity. It further stated that internet-enabled computer centers were available to people without personal devices.

2. Mobile phones not allowed

The platform does not support mobile phones, thus applicants were cautioned against trying to use them for the test. We will only accept desktops and laptops that support full-screen displays and have webcams.

3. Facial verification required

According to the NCS, when login, a facial recognition procedure would be required. Since their faces must match the information they provided before registration, candidates were advised to prepare appropriately.

4. Avoid untidy appearance

The email stressed that “clumsy facial looks” could impede the seamless functioning of the verification system and urged candidates to make sure their face presentation is clear and uncluttered.

5. Sensitive to noise and movement

The CBT app is designed to recognize odd behavior. During the test, candidates were advised to remain motionless and focused. It cautioned that anyone who make loud noises or excessive bodily movements can be logged out of the system.

6. No distractions allowed

In addition to motions, the organization cautioned against taking the test in noisy settings. It clarified that the technology might detect background noise or whispering and interpret it as misconduct.

7. One window at a time

Throughout the test, candidates are required to stay on a single screen. Even a momentary window switch could be interpreted by the application as an attempt to cheat.

8. Pre-test before main exam

The service said that a mandatory practice session would be held two days before to the test to acquaint candidates with the system. Additionally, it stated that this will help candidates comprehend how the application functions and minimize mistakes on test day.

9. Two links for candidates

In order to access the pre-test and the main CBT on a different date, applicants will receive two different links, according to the NCS. Candidates were advised to click on the correct URL on the designated day.

10. Extra test for Superintendent cadre

The email stated that in the following stage of the hiring process, candidates for the Superintendent cadre (Level 8) would have to take an additional CBT. However, applicants for jobs in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres are exempt from this requirement.

Applicants who pass every level will be invited for a final screening, according to the organization.

The NCS instructed all applicants to verify their email addresses as part of the procedure, and it was stated that 286,697 candidates were selected for the CBT round.
