The flurry of support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of 2027 has been characterized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State as evidence of his “settled” reelection.
In a statement released in Lagos on Tuesday, APC Spokesman Mr. Seye Oladejo said the ruling party found it amusing that the PDP had rejected the president’s endorsements.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba claimed in Abuja on Monday that the APC was using a variety of tactics to solicit endorsements and rally support for Tinubu because the party was in a panic.
In response, Oladejo stated that “the only people in panic mode are those with an empty shell called a party,” pointing out that the widespread support for Tinubu was evidence of acceptance of his changes.
He stated: “A party that used to claim to be “Africa’s largest” is now reduced to a deserted kiosk, getting ready for a convention as though it were getting ready for World War 3 because of internal threats.”
When members of a political party flee like headless chickens at the first sign of internal strife, it is called panic.
“The PDP is the only party that is frantically searching for presidential candidates, which is a sign of its shallowness.
These days, the only news that the supposedly “biggest political party in Africa” anticipates is which of its governors has defected to the ruling party. That’s the real meaning of panic, no question about it.
“President Tinubu’s support is evidence, not fear. Evidence of leadership that even PDP’s staunchest supporters covertly accept, of boldness that Nigerians respect, and of reforms that are beginning to take hold.
He claims that even his opponents applaud uninvitedly when a guy is destined for the throne.
He asserted that the former ruling party preferred to yell from the sidelines because they were still blinded by resentment.
According to Oladejo, the PDP squandered Nigeria’s resources and possibilities for 16 years.
He claimed that the old ruling party was ignoring Tinubu’s changes while hurling stones and acting as though they had some significance.
To be clear, each of President Tinubu’s endorsements serves as further evidence that 2027 is a finalized issue.
“PDP can only anticipate yet another humiliating loss—the kind that confirms their complete rejection by Nigerians and mocks their relevance.”
“The adventure continues for APC. The PDP is still in a panic. PDP bleeds, APC grows,” he continued.
He asserts that the PDP runs the risk of losing what little relevance it still has if it does not turn around.
