The date of the final evaluation for minors who took the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been moved by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Board claims that the change was required since 23 of the 71 universities selected by the impacted candidates did not submit their Post-UTME screening results by the original September 15, 2025, deadline.
JAMB stated in a statement signed by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, its Public Communication Advisor, that some schools had not complied with the National Examinations Council’s (NECO) September 17 announcement of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.
The University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15), University of Abuja (12), and University of Uyo (9), among others, are among the universities that have defaulted. 135 applicants in total are impacted.
According to JAMB, the institutions implicated received a formal letter from the organization instructing them to promptly submit the unresolved screening results.
Universities’ responsibilities under the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) were also emphasized by the Board. It required private colleges to submit their suggested candidates by Friday, October 31, 2025, while public universities had to do so by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the latest.
As decided at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions, which was presided over by Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, JAMB emphasized that the final deadlines—October 30 for public universities and November 31 for private universities—remain legally enforceable.
The Board underlined that rigorous adherence to these deadlines was essential to guaranteeing a seamless, equitable, and open admissions process for the 2025–2026 school year.
