Oba Rasidi Ladoja was legally confirmed as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who also gave him the staff and certificate of office.
At precisely 3:05 p.m. on Friday, the presentation took place amid a historic and flamboyant coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall in Ibadan.
Notable luminaries, including President Bola Tinubu, attended the coronation, which took place at Mapo Hall, underscoring the event’s cultural and political significance.
The last step in validating Ladoja’s accession to the throne is Makinde’s official presentation of the staff and certificate of office, which represents both continuity and tradition in Ibadan’s monarchy.
At a time when community influence and administration are becoming more and more entwined, this coronation is particularly noteworthy since it places a former state governor in a prestigious royal position, fusing political experience with traditional leadership.
During his speech, Makinde declared, “This is a historic moment in the presence of God, the people, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
“I thus submit the staff of office to Oba, His Imperial Majesty, Senator, Governor, Engineer, my Baba, His Imperial Majesty, Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1st, in the exercise of the authority granted to me as the Governor.
This is confirmed to be Ibadanland’s 44th Olubadan. I’m really here.
