Nigeria will host the Headies Awards again following two international editions
Headies Award goes back to its hometown. The Headies Awards make a comeback to Nigeria following two global iterations. One of the most prominent music awards in Nigeria, the Headies Awards has helped to develop the country’s music sector. According to recent announcements from the Headies Academy, the renowned award will make its way back to Nigeria in 2024 following two editions in Atlanta, USA.
The Headies Academy announced the news in a press release on February 7, 2024. “Afrobeats, both as a movement and as music, have grown beyond our wildest expectations in the last several years.
Our tracks have amassed billions of plays and comfortably occupied prominent positions on global charts. Millions of videos on the internet have our music as their soundtrack. The largest arenas have been sold out by our stars despite the absurd sales figures of African collaborations.
The music was followed by the Headies in observance of this explosion. We know how important it is to spread the good word about excellent music to new areas because this event marked the arrival of our big musical talents long before they took the globe by storm. Thus, the Headies in 2022 and 2023 were held in the United States. The world got to witness what our stars of the future and our global stars will look like.
We are taking the globe home in 2024 (The 17th Headies)!: To the location that gave birth to the music that has made everyone want to dance, started viral videos, and elevated our continent to the forefront of pop culture worldwide. The Headies are returning home, ladies and gentlemen.”
