Idahosa Emerges APC Candidate For Edo Governorship Election
Hon Denise Idahosa, a member of the House of Representatives, has emerged as the victor in the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary conducted on Saturday (today).
Idahosa secured a total of 40,454 votes, surpassing his opponent David Ikhine, who received 700 votes.
The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, announced that the primary was conducted peacefully and successfully across all 18 local government areas and 192 wards.
“There was some kind of misinformation as regards the venue of the primary. This is the secretariat (Protea Hotel) for the election where results were collated and would be announced.
“Of the 12 aspirants that contested this primary, Clem Agba scored 100 votes, Sen. Monday Okpepholo 100, Hon. Drkeri Anamero 230, Engr. Gideon Ikhine has 700 votes. David Imuse 400 votes, Charles Airhavebere 163 votes, Prof Osareime Osunbor 180 votes, Dr. Blessing Agbomere 50 votes, Hon Denise Idahosa 40, 453 votes, Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe two votes, Lucky Imasuen and Pastor Ize-Iyamu scored two votes respectively.
“Therefore, Denise Idahosa, having scored the highest votes cast, is hereby declared winner of the primary and hereby returned as the candidate of the party,” Uzodinma announced.
Certain aspirants have claimed that Idahosa is the chosen candidate of ex-Governor Adam Oshiomhole and have pledged to oppose any efforts to force a candidate onto the party.
