BREAKING: EFCC Quizzes Former Governor Of Kwara State, Ahmed

Kwara State’s former Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, is currently being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding transactions amounting to billions of naira during his tenure as governor.

On Monday morning, the former Kwara governor was observed arriving at the Ilorin office of the anti-graft agency.

According to information made available to journalists, Ahmed was summoned by the EFCC and is presently providing answers to inquiries concerning the expenditure of these funds during his administration.

Recall that Ahmed served as governor of the North Central state from May 2011 to May 2019, after which he handed over the reins to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

In May 2021, he underwent questioning from a group of proficient agents at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, the capital of the country, regarding the suspected embezzlement of around N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s funds.

The funds were purportedly redirected while Ahmed held office as the state’s governor and as the Finance Commissioner during ex-Governor Bukola Saraki’s administration.
