Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspects In Army Uniform
The Nasarawa State command of the Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in armed robbery activities in the Ekye Development Area of Doma Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was conducted in response to complaints from residents.
The suspects have been identified as Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah. The statement further revealed that the command had received reports of weekly armed robberies occurring on Thursday nights, with the perpetrators disguised in military attire, along the Doma-Rukubi Road in the Ekye community.
In light of these complaints, the operatives from the Ekye Division strategically positioned themselves at Kwanar Kare, a notorious location along the Doma-Rukubi Road where armed robbers frequently block the road and target unsuspecting motorists.
“The duo of Abdullahi Basso and Saidu Isah, both males of Rugan Maigari, Rukubi village dressed in military uniforms, were arrested at the scene while about to carry out their operation, and the sum of three hundred thousand naira cash (N300,000), a knife and other items were recovered from them as exhibits.
“The suspects confessed to having attacked one Mallam Barka at the same spot last week where they dispossessed him of the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000),” Nansel revealed in a statement released over the weekend.
