RCCG’s Pastor Adeboye Marks 82nd Birthday
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, expressed his gratitude to God for his continued existence, citing a close encounter with death in the past. Pastor Adeboye gave his remark at the Redemption City of God in Ogun, as he celebrated his 82nd birthday.
The revered preacher shared the story of a life-threatening incident that could have claimed his life if not for a miraculous intervention from God.
He recalled his former driver’s account of multiple accidents where he and his wife narrowly escaped death while traveling to Ilorin, Kwara.
Among these incidents, the most terrifying, he said, was when their vehicle faced a speeding trailer on a narrow path near a bridge, with a river flowing beside it.

“Somehow, we passed,” Adeboye expressed his astonishment at the miraculous escape, emphasizing that both he and his driver were left shaken by the incident.
According to him, the escape amazed his driver that all he was repeating was “wonderful” until they got to Ilorin.

“That I’m alive today is because His name is called wonderful,” Pastor Adeboye said and prayed that God would be wonderful in the lives of the people.
Adeboye expressed his gratitude to the church members for their celebration and extended his prayers for their well-being, hoping that they would surpass his achievements and live long lives.
He also acknowledged that his 82nd birthday coincided with the 38th anniversary of the church’s monthly Special Holy Ghost Service. Adeboye further expressed his appreciation to God for the positive impact the program had on people’s lives.

During the event, the cleric delivered a sermon centered around the theme of the Holy Ghost Service, titled “On Eagles Wings.”
Preaching from Exodus Chapter 19, he said, “When God hears and takes notice of a person, the life of such a person changes for the better.
“God can grab you from the lowest point on earth and put you on the throne.”
He stated that in situations where human intervention is futile, divine assistance will be sent by the all-knowing God.
The religious leader emphasized that having faith and leading a holy life were the only prerequisites for receiving effortless triumph from God.
He fervently prayed for God to attentively listen to the pleas of the people, uplift them on the wings of an eagle, and provide them with complete deliverance, just as He had done for the children of Israel.
